It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batters to maintain a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to produce her newest gem.

Certain people claim the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it was a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as captain.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
